Cape D’Aguilar (鶴咀島)

Cape D’Aguilar is located in the south of Shek O (石澳) and southeastern of Hong Kong Island (香港島). As its name suggests, it is a cape itself and the area has lots of landscapes from coastal erosion. The photo above is one of the highlights of this island, Bones of Miss Willy. This doesn’t mean that creatures are all dead here loll, just to be clear. Although there is a lot of online information indicating that this whale was the one (named Willy) that died in the Ocean Park, that piece of information is incorrect (even the English translation still call it Bones of Miss Willy). The whale bones was actually from a killer whale that was stranded in Victoria Harbor back in 1955 and it was brought back to do marine research from the University of Hong Kong.

Cape D’Aguilar used to be a hidden gem until people started to share this place on the Internet. This destination is not easy to reach, as compared to most of the popular tourist attractions, but the scenery here is really worth all the work to get there. To get to Cape D’Aguilar, take Bus 9 at Shau Kei Wan (筲箕灣) and get off at Cape D’Aguilar Road (鶴咀道), as the road is private, only buses and certified…
